This short animation was made to educate drivers about wildlife on country roads. I came up with the idea during my commute by car between Wells and Bath. In the short distance of 20 miles I saw around 3 animal corpses each day. I wanted to stop this in any way I could.
Unable to prevent the construction of new roads through animal routes, I set about trying to change the drivers themselves by asking them to drive more slowly and carefully, especially in areas with close hedgerows and fields (which applied to most roads in Somerset, the county where I live).
I wanted the animation to have character without being tacky; I achieved this by combining subtle textured cutouts with fun, simple character designs. The text was crisp and to-the-point so my message couldn’t become lost amongst the imagery.
